LOFT link to O's past 1/2/2005
LOFT made a link with the Club's past when it acquired 414 shares in Leyton
Orient Football Club Ltd from Mary Cornish, now residing in Swansea.
These shares had been owned by various members of the Cornish family for many
decades. Mary is the daughter-in-law of William Cornish, whom she describes as
“a Founder of Clapton Orient”. We do know that Mr C.W.J. Cornish was a Director
of the Club between 1914 and 1934 (the picture below shows Mr Cornish and the
other Orient directors with the future King George VI in 1922). Mr Cornish died
in 1943.
Mary was delighted to donate the shares to Orient fans, where their legacy
can continue as part of the shareholding in LOFT’s name.
