LOFT announces support for ground plans 8/7/2003Following extensive consideration, and consultation with the membership, LOFT
has decided to give public endorsement of the Club's proposals for ground
redevelopment and support the planning application currently being considered by
the council. We will be sending letters to the Council's Planning Committee,
individual local councillors and the local media.
Our support is based on upon the Club's answers to questions and concerns,
most particularly with regard to the future capacity of the stadium; the
potential for expansion; and the importance of differential pricing, so that the
cost of admission to Brisbane Road does not prove a barrier to support.
However, we believe that aspects of the club's campaign have marginalised and
excluded many supporters. LOFT particularly regrets the lack of meaningful
consultation with fans and believes that the Club's unwillingness to enter into
dialogue on the issue of terracing has diluted support for the proposals. LOFT
believes that the case for safe standing at Brisbane Road remains a sound one,
that it would be good for the future of the Club and that it will continue to
campaign for safe terracing at Brisbane Road in the future.
We will keep members and readers of this site updated. If you have any
