Club instability - LOFT calls for protest
The last week has seen yet another change of manager at Leyton Orient – Andy Hessenthaler is now the seventh different manager or caretaker manager since Francesco Becchetti took control of the club in 2014.
Like many O’s fans, we are alarmed at the constant turnover of staff at the club (including today, the termination of goalkeeping coach Lee Harrison's contract) and instability.
LOFT feels the time is right to take the lead, in asking supporters who are as worried as us to show their feelings. We have carefully considered the form of protest so as not to negatively affect the team's chances on the pitch while the play-offs remain attainable.
Therefore, to mark the seven managers we have had since 2014, we are asking supporters not to go to their seat in the stands at Saturday's match against Dagenham & Redbridge until the seventh minute of today's game.
Over those two years, LOFT has continually been trying to meet with Mr Becchetti to discuss his plans – and as time has gone on, share our many concerns – about a football club we all love.
We are alarmed at the lack of communication and dialogue fans have with Mr Becchetti. We are alarmed at the losses that have been posted in the club accounts - some £4.5 million in the 2014/15 accounting year.
We are worried about the very existence of the club.
We ask once again for a meeting with fans to explain his plans for the club and listen to our concerns, so that the owner and supporters can all go forward together.
If you share our concerns then join us in our protest.
LOFT members will have an opportunity to discuss their concerns at the AGM taking place on Monday 25 April at the Supporters Club, starting at 7:30pm. Our special guests will be O's legends John Mackie and Gary Alexander.
