LOFT AGM report
12/16/2012

LOFT's AGM for the 2012/13 season took place on Thursday 13th December. Around 50 members, including a number that joined or rejoined on the night, turned out at the Gallery bar in the West Stand at Brisbane Road.

Once the formal AGM business was concluded (see below), our special guest - O's manager Russell Slade - took part in a very open and honest Q&A session. Among the highlights:

  • A 30-minute presentation by Slade that showed the progess made off the pitch since his tenure started, both in training facilities and the statistical analysis.
  • He would love to be able to have the ProZone
  • The choice of tactics isn't as simple as 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 - Slade's preferred is a lopsided 4-4-2, but he adjusts to give us the best chance against the opposition we're playing.
  • The pitch being narrowed was purely to accommodate Nathan Clarke's long throws.
  • Slade would love to take this team to Wembley in the JPT.

Slade was accompanied by goalkeeping coach Kevin Dearden, who confirmed that Jamie Jones was definitely not played injured at Everton, and by O's chief executive Matt Porter who said on our youth policy that we are a tier 3 academy receiving £230k a year which the club pretty much matches (there are 6 or 7 full-time staff for the youth side now, a mile away from what we used to have).

LOFT would like to thank Russ, Kevin and Matt for coming along and engaging honestly and openly with everyone there.

The AGM was chaired by vice-chair James Cassidy as chair Doug Harper was unable to attend. The meeting received the Chairman's report which can be read here and the Treasurer's report.

The meeting passed all of the resolutions to adopt a new set of rules and accompanying side policies. These can be downloaded from here.

Finally, four committee members automatically stood down at the end of their 3-year terms; Paul Arnup, James Cassidy, Tom Davies and Jonathan Kaye. All four stood for re-election and were elected by the meeting.
