LOFT tells Hearn: it's time to talk
2/5/2009

The news that takeover talks have ended at Leyton Orient means that the club needs to communicate now what the ground sale means to the future of the club. While many supporters hoped that the sale of the club and the sale of the lease were somehow tied up in a move to a new post-Olympic site, that hope appears to be dashed by the end of the sale negotiations, and Orient fans are left with the prospect of becoming merely short-term tenants in their own ground.

It’s clear from the experience of a number of clubs around the country that there are serious risks and potential problems involved in such a scenario, and that is why LOFT believes it is vital for Barry Hearn to explain exactly what his proposal means for the future of Leyton Orient, both in the short and long term.

LOFT calls upon Barry Hearn to hold an open meeting with supporters as soon as possible, so that proper two-way discussion can take place with everyone who cares about the future of our football club.

The situation we are now in is exactly why Supporters Trusts exist up and down the country. As an independent democratically-elected supporters organisation, LOFT is best-placed to unite supporters and demand change. We call on all Orient supporters to join LOFT if they care what happens to Brisbane Road; back our actions by joining with us and adding your voice to ours, if you want us to go in a different direction join LOFT and influence change democratically.

Now is the time to get involved if you care about Leyton Orient.
