Lingy & Deano to appear at AGM
11/14/2007

Leyton Orient's management team of Martin Ling and Dean Smith are the special guests of the 2007 LOFT AGM, which is being held at the Supporters Club on Thursday 22 November. This is the first time that 'Lingy & Deano' have appeared together at an open supporters evening.

Martin has appeared on several occasions since becoming manager, and it was at the first of these in September 2004 that his reputation was gained for answering questions in a commendably forthright and honest way.

Dean has also appeared once before in August 2003, in his playing days as club captain, when he stood in at the last minute and answered questions honestly and intelligently about his PFA role and life as an Orient player, making a mockery of the stereotypical image of a footballer.

The event starts at 7:30pm, and is open to all Orient supporters. Only LOFT members may vote on AGM business, the agenda for which is below.

Agenda of the Annual General Meeting of the Leyton Orient Fans' Society Ltd t/a Leyton Orient Fans' Trust

  1. Welcome and apologies.
  2. Treasurer’s Report and Accounts to 31 May 2007.
  3. Chairman’s report for the period ended 31 May 2007.
  4. Audit Arrangement for the year ending 31 May 2008.

Resolution that, subject to the provisions of section 4A of the 1968 Friendly and Industrial and Provident Societies Act, the members of the Society shall not require an audit for the accounts covering the current financial year ending on 31 May 2008 when they are presented to the next AGM held in 2008.

The members of the society agree that the Accounts for the financial year ending 31 May 2008 on and for which reports will be laid before the following AGM do not require a full audit provided that:

    • The total income for that year does not exceed the threshold laid down by Supporters Director for audit exemption (currently £25,000);
    • An Independent Examination of those accounts is carried out in place of the full Audit;
    • The Independent Examination is carried out in line with the best practice of Supporters Direct as set out in the Guidance Notes;
    • A report from the Independent Examiner is included within the Accounts and circulated to members.

The Society notes that:

    • The Independent Examination does not carry the same weight as a full Audit.
    • The members of the Trust instruct the Board to identify a suitably qualified practitioner to undertake the review.
    • The Board shall agree the appointment of the examiner and shall agree terms of that appointment in writing.
    • Supporters Direct has no liability in respect of any Trust Accounts.
    • Supporters Direct will use the report of an Independent Examiner when considering your Trust’s eligibility for membership as against criteria in its membership policy.
