An Evening with Martin Ling - The Rematch
1/19/2005

LOFT Chair Doug Harper with Orient manager Martin Ling

At the meeting in August, Orient manager Martin Ling promised to return halfway through the season to answer the questions of LOFT members. True to his word, Martin came back on Thursday 13th January to meet a packed room at the Birkbeck.

Once again, Martin was characteristically honest in his answers, with questions ranging from the recent fragility of the Orient defence, to his favourite London airport (London City Airport, in case you were wondering!), via the chances of Dean Smith pulling on a first-team shirt again ("none, his legs have gone!").

The answer of the night, though, came after a question about O's youth keeper Paul Jones, who has been grabbing headlines at Exeter after his clean sheet against Manchester Utd; "I was talking to Alex after the Man Utd game... Inglethorpe, that is!".

Martin received a rousing ovation as the two-hour meeting finished, with everyone present appreciating his willingness to answer as directly as the questions were put to him. Once again, LOFT committee member James Pope has compiled a write-up of all the questions and answers, which are available on his personal website here.

As always, our thanks to Matt Porter for his help in arranging the meeting.
